The most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Universe was started in 1952 by California clothing company Pacific Mills. The Beauty Pageant became part of Kayser Roth and then Gulf and Western Industries before being taken over by Donald Trump in 1996. In 1998, Miss Universe changed the name of Miss Universe, Inc. to MissUniverse Organization and the headquarters moved from Los Angeles, California to New York City. The contest would use the slogan “Redefined for Today” for promotion of the pageant.
Miss universe 2012 is the 61st edition of the Miss Universe beauty pageant. The schedule, venue and date will be announced by the Miss Universe Organization.
Miss Angola 2011, Leila Lopes has been crowned Miss Universe 2011 by Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. Angola’s first Miss Universe winner, Leila Lopes beat out 88 other contestants to win the title during the 60th anniversary of the world’s biggest beauty pageant.
The Miss Universe 2011 is took place at Credicard Hall in Sao Polo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. The current titleholder Miss Universe 2011, Leila Lopes will crown her successor at the end of the beauty pageant.
