Sarah Filush : Miss Earth Guam 2012 |

Sarah Filush has been crowned Miss Earth Guam 2012 by Anna Calvo at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort on Tuesday 26th June, 2012. She also won Best in National Costume, Evening Gown and Miss Photogenic title.
Sarah Filush will represent Guam at the Miss Earth 2012 beauty pageant, the 12th edition of the Miss Earth beauty contest which will be held at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines on Saturday night of 24th November, 2012.
“With so many people and organizations using social media to advocate a cause or call for action, how would you as miss earth guam use social media to promote environmental sustainable behavior?” When asked to Sarah, she replied that “Social media is a powerful and useful tool in spreading information and how I would utilize that tool would be by promoting recycling, teaching our community the easy and different ways to go green and lastly just spreading awareness on our islands environmental issues.”
Sarah Borja Filush’s Environmental Advocacy :
Right now I am working towards starting a foundation intended to raise money to help organizations and groups involved in green efforts. The money I raise will also be used to purchase more recycling bins around my island. I am also working hand in hand with students and professors of The University of Guam’s Marine Lab towards the care for our island’s beautiful reef. Guam has one the most diverse marine life in the entire world. Unfortunately every year species are becoming extinct due to Global Warming, humans, and natural causes. I will be working with efforts on how to preserve our beautiful marine life. My love and care for my island is what urged me to focus on these environmental advocacies. I intend to encourage the people of Guam to do their part in maintaining our island’s beauty.
